A street festival on the Princes islands

The Princes Islands are sacred grounds for all Istanbulites. They are some of the few breathing spaces we have left in our city. We all visit them once or twice a year to bike or walk around and to get some fresh air. This year, from September 1-6, the first annual Adalar Sokak Festivali (“Islands Street Festival”) will be held in Büyükada and Burgazada. Will we have fun? Yes! But more importantly it will raise awareness on the islands’ ecological and cultural values and issues, draw attention to the problems that threaten the islands, and showcase temporary and permanent artwork. The festival will include dance performances, exhibitions (of photography, painting, and sculpture), art workshops, night tours, concerts, and much more.
