Dear Readers,
It’s the first of the month, the day our friend cizenbayan shares her live music picks for the month, exclusively for Canım Istanbul. You can listen to the artists mentioned below on the Canım Istanbul SoundCloud. Enjoy!
Summer is over, time to go back to the city. As sunlight diminishes over terraces, Istanbul concerts say farewell to beach gigs and open air festivals until next year, and go back indoors for new events.
For the second time, Peyote on Board will sail from Kabataş Pier on September 6 with Ah! Kosmos, Mondual and Doruk Güralp. The tickets are on sale now at Peyote Nevizade (keep in mind that the capacity is limited to 200 people).
Babylon Kilyos, the favorite venue of staycationers, ends the season on September 13 with Compass – A Day at the Beach. Featuring DJs such as Butch, Lee Foss, Wankelmut, Dosem and Ben Pearce; the festival is a great opportunity to dance as we say goodbye to summer.
After hosting countless musicians in Asmalımescit for more than ten years, the season opens with Flight Facilities at Babylon’s new venue in Bomonti. From September 10-20, we will attend Babylon’s Housewarming series to get used to the new location while listening to local and foreign artists. We are most excited to see Jonathan Toubin who brings rock’n’roll to the dance floor (September 11) as well as velvet-voiced multi-instrumentalist My Brightest Diamond (September 17) and American producer Daedelus (September 19).
You can also mark September 11 on your calendars too as Skrillex is likely to throw the biggest party of the year (again) at Küçükçiftlik Park. Even though most of us do not listen to Skrillex at home, his stage shows are for everyone who loves to dance. Plan to visit Babylon Bomonti once more on September 18: Apparat will be on stage for Club to Club.
Presenting a busy schedule as always, Salon IKSV kicks off the new season with Angel Olsen on September 12 and The Soft Moon on September 19.
Indigo also brings the fun indoors with Ben Klock on September 12.
Presented by Superga, People of Istanbul Festival will be at Life Park on September 19. Heavyweights include Mark Ronson and Roisin Murphy.
