Third wave coffee shops with great coffee and snack selections are opening up rapidly and we love them all. But sometimes, we want to opt for some place more traditional, serving great Turkish coffee and smoking shisha would be kinda nice to. But where to go? Well Çorlulu Ali Paşa Medresesi, located in historic district of Eminönü, is our recommendation for you.

This traditional Turkish coffee shop (“kahve”) dates back to 1716 and was a school during Ottoman period. Nowadays we get to enjoy one of the greatest Turkish coffee recipes, and homemade apple tea if you don’t feel like drinking coffee.

Under the nice trees and beautiful arches dating back to the Ottoman period, you can pass time playing backgammon and chatting with your friends. On your way out, be sure to get a glimpse of vintage Istanbul, and check souvenirs such as mosaic lambs, cushions, Ottoman style shoes which tourist love so much.
