They say that life can’t always be sweet, because if it was, then it wouldn’t taste as good. A bit of sour here and there, and a dash of spiciness is what makes life so interesting.
We completely agree and that’s probably one of the reasons why we love Thai food. This unique cuisine offers a combination of sweet, spicy, bitter, and sour all in one meal. The trick though is to find authentic Thai food in Istanbul and Pera Thai, which opened in 2001 to do just that, has perhaps the best Thai food in the city.
The Thai Select Award, given by the Royal Thai Government, and The Pride of Thailand – Certificate of Excellence, given by The National Institute of Thai Food, are testaments to the authenticity of the dishes prepared by Thai chefs here. As such, the menu is filled with traditional dishes, from beef satay and pad thai to red, green, and yellow curries (that pair perfectly with coconut rice). Fried banana, a classic Thai dessert, is absolutely delicious, too. The extensive wine list features a range of international and Turkish wines. Due to Beyoğlu’s downfall in the past few years, the venue is not as hip as it used to be, but if you’re going for the food, you’ll be more than happy you did.
