Hello Canım Istanbul followers!
After a short break in June, we’re back to bringing you the best music in the city. As the temperature keeps going higher and higher, concerts and events keep moving to open-air and summer venues.
Those who want to get away from the heat and dance should head to Kafes in Kilyos on July 2 for the Mind Against performance.
Bayram is just around the corner and we wanted to recommend a great event for Canım Istanbul readers who will be heading towards the Aegean: Alaçatı Soundpool will be home to the Burn Electronica Festival on July 5-6. The sun, the sand, the sea and John Digweed, Tiga, Ame (Live), Bob Moses, Oliver Koletzki, Adana Twins, Nora En Pure, Sofi Tukker as well as Birol Giray, Murat Uncuoğlu, Doruk Güralp and Ali Efe Dinç will guarantee great music and dancing.
If you’ll be in Bodrum during Bayram, we suggest you head to Xuma Village where Stavroz will take you on a cross-continental journey with his sets.
Once Bayram is over, we are back in Istanbul:
If you miss Âme (Live) in Alaçatı, Âme (Live) and Fur Coat will be at Suma Beach on July 8 for a night that will surely last long.
And Kilyos will definitely not be calm during July with Romare’s live performance at Babylon Kilyos on July 9, thanks to Red Bull Music Academy.
As part of the Istanbul Jazz Festival, Beykoz Kundura Fabrikası will host a great night of avant-garde jazz with Cuban-French sisters soul project Ibeyi followed by Kamasi Washington who blends jazz with modern projects as he did with Thundercat and Kendrick Lamar’s albums.
We’ve had our fair share of festivals in June with Chill-Out Istanbul at Parkfest and Babylon Soundgarden. July will see the 15th One Love Festival at Parkorman on July 17. The one-day festival will host Two Door Cinema Club (who is now on tour after the release of their latest album), Django Django, Balthazar, Arthur Beatrice, HVOB, Sofi Tukker, Klangkarussel, Butch, Andrea Oliva and Ben Pearce. The local line-up will be just as powerful with alternative queen Kalben, Umut Adnan, Cervus, Alican, İlker Aksungar, and Men With A Plan. And let it be noted that what was once an indie rock and alternative festival is consistently moving towards becoming an electronic one!
How about enjoying the Bosphorus a little bit? The Lost in Bosphorus boat offers a long night of dance with Jonas Saalbach and our own Tangun, Gökberk, and Ali Efe on July 23.
On that same night, Joss Stone, Vintage Trouble and Grup Ses Beats will be on stage at Küçükçiftlik Park as part of the Istanbul Jazz Festival.
One last out-of-town recommendation: the Chill-Out Festival at Xuma in Bodrum on July 23-24. It was the best 2 days of summer last year, and this year Acid Pauli, Bedouin, Chancha via Circuito, dOP, Eduardo Castillo, Goldcap, Henri, Matanza and Ocean vs Orientalis will be there.
For those who miss rock, the legendary Muse will be at Küçükçiftlik Park on July 26.
See you in August!
