Turkish cuisine may be one of the best cuisines in the world but even the best can get a little dull for those who crave variety and excitement. If that’s the case, a bit of sushi once in a while may be just what you need to spice things up.
The trick in Istanbul is finding authentic sushi, and that’s one of the reasons why we love Hai Sushi. Part of the Divan Group (which is a testament to its quality) and located at Kalamış Marina, the venue is simple and chic while the food is temptingly mouthwatering. The menu features a short list of soups, salads, and starters as well as some delicious mains (for those who want something more than sushi) like tempura, teriyaki, and noodle options as well as the classic yet oh-so-delicious sweet and sour chicken.
If you’re going just for the sushi, you can either choose to be seated at a regular table and order from the menu or sit by the conveyor belt system. This belt system is found in traditional Japanese restaurants and allows chefs to place the sushi that they’ve just prepared on a plate that revolves around the system. All you do is simply look at the dish that’s moving in front of you and pick the one you want – much like picking out your luggage from the baggage carousel at the airport. There are over 50 sushi and sashimi options of which California Kani Maki, Dragon Roll, and Unagi are some of our favorites.
For those on the Asian Side, heading to Hai Sushi is a no-brainer. But those on the European Side should note that the food here is totally worth the trip across the city.
