Although we live in the land of rakı and meze, finding the perfect place for a long night of the duo comes as a surprising challenge. At times like these when you want to go to a sure place that’s become almost a classic, we suggest you head to Cibalikapı Balıkçısı in Moda, one of our all-time favorites that can do the job flawlessly.
The original Cibalikapı Balıkçısı branch in Haliç, which opened over 15 years ago by former journalist Behzat Şahin, affords a wonderful view of Galata and Haliç. Moda is their Asian Side location. Even though we prefer the view in Haliç, the atmosphere is much more relaxed and cozy in Moda due to the green that surrounds the place and the outdoor seating area that feels more like a friend’s garden.
This down-to-earth venue has a great selection of mezes, seafood, and fish, such as topik (one of the best we’ve had in the city so far), girit ezmesi (pistachio, walnut, cheese mix), grilled octopus, marinated sea bass, and a wide variety of herbs.
