Everything at Karaköy Gümrük screams good taste. A meticulously designed interior, a menu that changes daily, the exquisite Edremit olive oil you dip your sourdough bread in… You could sit in wonder for hours and still discover subtle detail after subtle detail amidst the brass accessories and gray and olive tones on the walls. Gümrük is close enough to Karaköy that you feel its energy, but lies just enough outside that you don’t get crammed in with the crowds. Its kitchen is in the capable hands of Stavriani Zervakakou, a young female chef originally from Greece. She is passionate about seeking out the best ingredients and delivers a menu that is concise and just right. You can count on a dish of perfectly cooked seafood or a warming vegetable stew, no matter what day you come in. The sütlaç with traces of cardamom and the goat cheese and honey tart as dessert are always on the menu and never fail to amaze.
