Your live music agenda for April

Dear readers,

At Canım Istanbul, we love music and we’ve been wanting to do something around it for a while. So starting today, every 1st of the month will be your “Canım Istanbul concerts” newsletter. To do this right, we are partnering with a true music lover: blogger/traveler/dreamer cizenbayan. Together with her live picks of the month, we will prepare a little playlist on our SoundCloud account so you can listen to our recommendations and decide for yourself. Turn on and tune in!

Girl dancing with Cizenbayan

Hello Canım Istanbul followers, this is cizenbayan, nice to meet you :-).
Let’s get started with this new monthly deal! Here’s my live music selection for April:

My first pick is Tony Allen, on Babylon’s April 2nd’s RBMA evening. If you’re into funky-jazzy rhythms and have no plans tomorrow night, definitely don’t miss it.

This coming Saturday, head back to Babylon to listen to Kabus Kerim. His DJ sets of psychedelic Turkish rhythms mixed with old Anatolian pop songs will make you dance until you drop.

On April 10th, I would recommend you to start the evening at Salon IKSV, the one Istanbul venue where I go with my eyes closed knowing I’ll listen to great music. That Friday, London singer/songwriter Douglas Dare and electronic music artist Greg Haines take the stage. Afterwards, if you still have the energy, walk 10mn to Indigo and check out Adana Twins.

On April 18th, ambient music lovers should definitely mark their calendar for A Winged Victory For The Sullen’s show, again at Salon IKSV.

To end the month in style, dance your heart out with Digitalism at Kloster.
