Dear Readers,

It’s almost the end of the month, the time our friend cizenbayan shares her live music picks with you. As usual, you can listen to the artists mentioned below on the Canım Istanbul SoundCloud. New this month: we’ve added affiliate links at the bottom if you want to purchase the show tickets directly from here. Enjoy!

Istanbul will be home to some fantastic concerts in November. The Akbank Jazz Festival, held between October 21st and November 1st, will mark the beginning of some wonderful music for Istanbulites.

American R&B duo Rhye will be performing at Salon IKSV on November 3rd. The next day, on November 4th, From Sofar to Salon – a new concept created by Sofar Sounds Istanbul (don’t know Sofar Sounds yet? Read our article here) to reach a larger audience – will take the Salon stage. The same night, Iron & Wine will meet a Turkish audience for the first time at the Babylon Bomonti stage as part of Garanti Caz Yeşili, marking one of the top concerts of the month.

Salon IKSV has quite a full schedule for this season and during the same week, on Friday November 6th, dark pop princess Zola Jesus will take the stage. Those who want to keep the night going after the concert might want to head to Indigo to dance with Alle Farben in charge.

Snarky Puppy, who won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance, will be at Cemal Reşit Rey on Monday, November 9th. On Friday, November 13th, you might want to start the night off at Salon with Hiatus Kaiyote and end the night at Indigo with Berlin’s famous night club Watergate in the House.

We suggest you to buy your tickets quickly for the Unknown Mortal Orchestra concert, which will be held at Salon on November 16th, to make sure you don’t miss it. As part of Zorlu Performance Center’s un-sit down concert concept (or, put simply, a concert where you dance and there are no chairs), Canadian post-rock legend Godspeed You! Black Emperor will take the stage on Tuesday, November 17th. The same stage will appeal to a different crowd on Friday, November 20th at the Sinatra & Friends Night. Those who don’t want jazz or post rock but who simply want to dance should head to Indigo for Roman Flügel.  The most exciting concert of the month for us will be at Indigo on Saturday, November 21st: Canadian electro duo Bob Moses, who captured the hearts of so many of us music fans at this year’s Chill-Out Festival in Çeşme, will perform live at Indigo as part of their album tour.

Babylon and the French Cultural Center will mark the third XXF – Very French Festival between November 20 and December 4 with electro, jazz, and pop’s up-and-coming names from France, such as Chinese Man.
