Cuisine and Confessions: dance and acrobatics in the kitchen

The kitchen is where the most important things are discussed and where pretty much everything happens, so it’s loud, happy, energetic and colorful. This December, IKSV is hosting one of the world’s most renowned theatre companies in acrobatics and dance, Les 7 Doigts de la Main (which means “The hands’ seven fingers” because of the company’s seven founders), with their project Cuisine and Confessions. The show has been highly acclaimed everywhere it has staged, and will meet the audience at Zorlu Performing Arts Center Drama Stage with a total of six performances from December 23rd till 27th.

Cuisine and Confessions is an energetic and rich feast to the audience for 90 minutes as the performance explores senses such as taste and smell, blending childhood memories, relationships and family traditions with the ensemble’s artistic vision in a big, fully equipped communal ready to use kitchen. The show’s choreography is made by one of the troupe’s founders, Shana Carroll, who is known for her great work with Cirque de Soleil for Quebec’s 400th anniversary show. The music that accompanies the show is a mix of their own composition as well as some well-known melodies. Last but not least: Cuisine and Confessions was the opening act of Montreal Biennal in 2014.
